Shamokin Hot Party Spots #3

Please read disclaimer again. Cannot not afford a law suit!
Anywho, I am continuing on with Shamokin/Coal Township party sites Part 3. I wish all of these sites were still in existence, but I strongly doubt it.
1. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN: This bumpy ride outside of Burnside, heading toward “Hicksville” (sorry, rednecks), begins with a long drive up a hillside with a MAJOR bump every 5 feet. I guess it was cool when we drove our parents’ cars, but when you own your own, you’ll realize that the alignment gets f*%#ked!
This is not necessarily a “spot” to party, but to have a cool valley ride. My advice, when coming down the other side of the hill, GO SLOW! The people who own the house at the bottom SO do not appreciate cars spinning tires in their front lawn from going too fast. Just a heads up.
2. THE MUD PIT: Basically, this location is exactly how is sounds–a pit of mud. You really only want to go here if you have a 40 oz or small amount of booze. Since the mud pit is located just off of First St., do not take any chances. Save the big parties for somewhere less conspicuous!
3. THE NATURE TRAIL: Wow. What memories. This trail is just outside of Shamokin/Coal Township Junior/Senior High School. Maybe they monitor it more now than they did when I was in high school because we RULED that place!
Kids would skip class (or whole days, for that matter), and chill on the trail. There were many visible sights of spray paint vandalism, but nothing vulgar. This was a place, not to have huge parties, but just to smoke some herb or drop some you-know-what during a football game. Again, I condone NOTHING.
Tell us what you think! Please leave a comment below. We LOVE comments!

It’s not the nature trail, but I can sort of remember the fun that was had when we walked down to the high school from the VoTech.
